Pretty much. There are some things that you can do with multiple Linux machines that probably aren't easily possible with multiple Windows machines. For instance, I can log into my desktop from a laptop and use X11 forwarding to run applications on the desktop while having them displayed on my laptop. In Windows, you can't do this on a per app basis (at least to my knowledge); you have to use Remote Desktop or VNC to show the entire desktop.
