Are some schizophrenics aware their thoughts are not real?

For instance me, I was told I have schizophrenia but I was aware I was becoming delusional. I said to a colleague of mines I think I'm becoming that but at the same time, even though I knew something was wrong, I did believe in some of those delusions.
