If I were to download and run add-aware and spybot, would I have to disable norton?

Norton seems to be working fine, but I think I have a virus or something because of the way my computer's been running lately. So, if I were to download add-aware and/or spybot would I need to disable norton to run them? If so, what's the best way to temporarily do this?
