How do you put a phone in in storage long term?

I've got an older model Samsung flip phone that I want to store with all of its saved texts for a few years. I've upgraded to a smartphone but it would be nice to look through my old texts six years from now. What's the best way to store it, and are there any concerns I should be aware of?
