Do conservatives have their own definition of the word "socialism" that I'm not aware of?

Apparently, public schools, parks, Universities, public trash pickup, public water, Medicare, Social Security, etc. are not socialism but Obama's healthcare reform is socialism. Their biggest argument against healthcare reform seems to be that it's "socialism" but I'm still trying to figure out what their definition of socialism is. Do they even have a definition or do they just throw this word at anything they disagree with?
